Banlist thoughts

Lightlord
pretty excited to see if this theme can top any tournaments with lumina being semi-limited and guardna at 2 now. not only that JD is also at 3. so it would be pretty interesting to see if it is able to emerge as top tier again.

however, this deck is no longer as fast as it used to be when charge is playable at 3. it also depends on its grave to have sufficient materials. now that glow up bulb has been banned, it hurts this deck as well and it has to rely on carrier being the most potent tuner available.

Doppel
really sad to see bulb and spore being banned. konami makes it so obvious that they are promoting exceeds now.

our poor doppel suffers the most as it is the one of the most synchro based deck. of course not to forget about laval, and yes they are untouched!expect this theme to suffer a decrease in its popularity.

Agent angel
striker and earth got limited, so that hurt this deck pretty badly. of course it is still playable with the incorporation of a few techs here and there, but the pace just isnt there anymore. you can no longer get venus to hand as fast as how it used to be.

earth got limited would mean that there will be 2 targets lesser for hyperion, so expect some shift towards the use of jupiter?or other agents in the coming future.

Six sam
smoke signal to 2, shien still remains at 1. definitely faster pace, but shien at 1 is still the main problem of the deck due to the absence of "locking" when it is being gotten rid of.

Conclusion
i can only say that ALL THEME DECKS ARE NOT DEAD! there are still ways to play around with it, regardless of how bad the list hits them. it is just a matter of speed, consistency and explosiveness.

i would expect these decks to pale in face of better themes such as inzektor, holy carved dragons and the newly released magical theme. we do have to realize that these are themes that are currently at its prime due to no restrictions being placed on their card choices or whatsoever. all cards can be played at 3.

furthermore, they are new. meaning people would want to explore these concepts and play with it. we humans to a certain extent like new things, dont we? well, we have to wait and see how well these new themes perform, whether they are meta-changing or not.

all in all, i cant wait for holy carved and the new magical theme. oh, and not to forget the LIGHTRAYS

=========================

posting this list AGAIN! and have something to say about the recent uproar.

we have ALL agreed that, in order for the scans to be legitimate and real they must satisfy all of the following points:

1. card scans of the promo card that is supposed to come with the magazine.
2. full scans of the cover page of the magazine.
3. more sophisticated and detailed pictures. example with all the cosplays, unlike the fake scans with only pictures and words.
4. higher resolution pictures, instead of blurry ones.

since earlier we have scans of banlist that satisfies all of the above points, i really dont see why people still dont believe it is real. even the official vjump website shows the artist holding a copy of that magazine in his hand.

people dont really believe it mainly because they dont like the list, because the list didnt touch insectors, rabbit, wind-ups etc.

but if we were to really think about it, in my opinion is that Konami wants to make more money thats all. Zenmighty, inzektors have just been released not long ago, by banning it Konami would have lost tons of money because many people doesnt want to buy that set anymore. now would you do that in the expense of your lost revenue? such decision would not be wise.

all in all, what i am saying is, if a list comes up to fulfill the criteria that we have stated, believe it. if not, arent you slapping your own mouth? try to see things with an open mind. likewise for fake scans that have obviously been Photoshopped. why? because you can have some "entertainment" while waiting for the real list to come and have a really good laugh at it. i, personally enjoy seeing fake lists to be honest. just dont over react.

alright, since now the real list is out, there is no point whining over how bad it is. move on and adapt to the real list and make the best use out of it. be a gentleman.

on a side note, since ocg has restricted tengu to 2, does it mean that the new deck contains tengu inside? since another tcg exclusive alexandrite dragon gets printed too? cant wait for more info!

ok, will be back with an analysis of the banlist soon! stay tuned.

meanwhile, peace please! cheers! =)

i dont know why tengu is there.lol. its suppose to be a jap list.

anyway, i have to emphasize AGAIN...

DONT TAKE IT SO SERIOUS TILL THE REAL ONE WITH THE PROMO CARD SCAN IS OUT!

compulsory evacuation device

top 32 decklist for the recent YCS was updated and upon closer look you will realize something.

most top 4 players didnt main bottomless except for 2nd placing's dino rabbit. which means most of them opted for CED instead of bottomless.

what an interesting trend.

Effect: Return 1 monster on the field to its owner's hand.

reasons why CED > Bottomless:

1. in a meta widespread with insectors, bottomless dont really help much. it does nothing to save you from damsel. apart from the occasional centipede which players have no choice to summon, if you were given a choice of summoning damsel and centi, who would you summon first? answer is pretty obvious, to avoid bottomless.

2. insectors combo mainly involves summoning damnsel first, clear your backrow and allow their centipede to land safely. in any case, bottomless does nothing much to save you from the predicament.

3. current metas involves small monsters with low attack points, such as dandy, windup, insectors etc, we all know the advantage of having low attack points that is to escape bottomless.

4. CED saves your own monsters.

5. CED can get rid of irritating monsters such as stardust, gantetsu etc.

disadvantage:

1. CED doesnt solve the problem, it merely delays your opponent for a turn and not solving it. if you find no outs to the situation by your next turn, be prepared to be flooded by insects when you end your turn.

================

maybe it is due to the reasons that many players from YCS mainly CED together with demon chain as their trap line up. if you have notice, there is something in common for both cards, they work on any monsters regardless of their attack which bottomless dont.

happy valentine's day. oh...belated. =)

LUCK

LUCK.

a topic, word and thought that couldnt be more familiar with duelists. A word which could have defied  probability and statistics.

Something which all duelists wish they could have owned and manipulate to their liking.

Let me share with you an interesting approach, taken from Organizational Behaviour, Kreitner/ Kinicki 9th edition:

Luck

If you want to know about luck, then talk to lucky and unlucky people to see how they differ. that simple premise is behind more than a decade of innovative research by Richard Wiseman, a psychology professor in the UK. It turns out that luck involves much more than simply random chance or coincidence. lucky people, through how they think and behave, make their own good fortune. here are Wiseman's four guidelines for improving your luck.

1. Be active and involved. be open to new experiences and networking with others to encounter more lucky chance opportunities.

2. listen to your hunches about luck. learn when to listen to your intuitive gut feelings. meditation and mind-clearing activities can help.

3. expect to be lucky no matter how bad the situation. remain optimistic and work to make your expectations a self-fulfilling prophecy.

4. Turn your bad luck into good fortune. take control of bad situations by remaining calm, positive, and focus on a better future.

How is this related to yugioh? my own perception:

point 1: try out new decks, play styles and new concepts, then play with many other different players. you will never know when something could have enlightened you and you learn something out of it.

point 2: base from my own experience, there are many times which i had told myself not to set too many back rows as i believe my opponent has heavy storm. i didnt believe myself and went to set 3 and got stormed in the end. Didnt yusei used "clear mind" or something of the sort to get shooting star(cant really remember if its shooting star or when he accel synchro) out?LOL.

point 3: top draw anyone?

point 4: i believe many duelists have survived and witnessed how a player manages to turn the table round and eventually won the game with 100LP left. so, never never never give up!

i thought that this piece of article is really interesting and can relate to yugioh, so decided to post it up here. also, at the same time, "explores" and "answers" how luck affects this game and how can one make the best use out of it.

"lucky people, through how they think and behave, make their own good fortune" --> remember i once said that "luck only comes with skill"?

ok, back to study.
