LUCK.
a topic, word and thought that couldnt be more familiar with duelists. A word which could have defied probability and statistics.
Something which all duelists wish they could have owned and manipulate to their liking.
Let me share with you an interesting approach, taken from Organizational Behaviour, Kreitner/ Kinicki 9th edition:
Luck
If you want to know about luck, then talk to lucky and unlucky people to see how they differ. that simple premise is behind more than a decade of innovative research by Richard Wiseman, a psychology professor in the UK. It turns out that luck involves much more than simply random chance or coincidence. lucky people, through how they think and behave, make their own good fortune. here are Wiseman's four guidelines for improving your luck.
1. Be active and involved. be open to new experiences and networking with others to encounter more lucky chance opportunities.
2. listen to your hunches about luck. learn when to listen to your intuitive gut feelings. meditation and mind-clearing activities can help.
3. expect to be lucky no matter how bad the situation. remain optimistic and work to make your expectations a self-fulfilling prophecy.
4. Turn your bad luck into good fortune. take control of bad situations by remaining calm, positive, and focus on a better future.
How is this related to yugioh? my own perception:
point 1: try out new decks, play styles and new concepts, then play with many other different players. you will never know when something could have enlightened you and you learn something out of it.
point 2: base from my own experience, there are many times which i had told myself not to set too many back rows as i believe my opponent has heavy storm. i didnt believe myself and went to set 3 and got stormed in the end. Didnt yusei used "clear mind" or something of the sort to get shooting star(cant really remember if its shooting star or when he accel synchro) out?LOL.
point 3: top draw anyone?
point 4: i believe many duelists have survived and witnessed how a player manages to turn the table round and eventually won the game with 100LP left. so, never never never give up!
i thought that this piece of article is really interesting and can relate to yugioh, so decided to post it up here. also, at the same time, "explores" and "answers" how luck affects this game and how can one make the best use out of it.
"lucky people, through how they think and behave, make their own good fortune" --> remember i once said that "luck only comes with skill"?
ok, back to study.

True, True. 100% agree with the trying out of new decks. If you faced opponents who played the deck you played before it increase your fighting chance as you roughly know the built. Cheers to you.
Good Job
