XX-saber fulhelmknight gets to special summon a valid target from grave even if he is destroyed by ryko. Cool~

And the newest xx-saber support, xx-saber darksoul just brings the xx-saber family to a whole new level. Beast somemore! Usual stunts like rescue --> darksoul + airbellum = hyunlei. end phase still gets to search for another x-saber of any level.

expect xx-saber hyunlei's price to increase when extra pack 3 is out with all the xx-saber family arriving. Couldn't wait for their release.

One problem though, even with the many x-saber supports they are giving, it is still very difficult to perform the infinite combo CONSISTENTLY.

Come on~ just more supports to execute that combo and x-sabers will be dominating!

Many people asked me about why you cannot torrential tribute the stardust special summoned out by starlight road due to heavy storm's resolution being the last thing to happen. Hence i would like to bring your attention to these 2 cards.

Effect: Activate only when an effect is activated that would destroy 2 or more cards you control. Negate the effect and destroy that card. Then, you can special summon 1 "stardust dragon" from your extra deck.

Effect: Discard 1 card. Negate the activation of a spell card and destroy it.

Please do remember that magic jammer is a spell speed 3 trap, i purposely choose a old print magic jammer because it does not have the counter-trap symbol, for easier reference. Hence, let us compare and assume magic jammer is a normal trap like starlight road in this instance.

starlight road's text:
Negate the effect and destroy that card.

magic jammer's text:
Negate the activation of a spell card and destroy it.

Both parallels in their destruction effect, however what sets them apart is the negation part of the text. Starlight road merely negates the effect, but not the ACTIVATION. magic jammer negates the card plus the ACTIVATION.

As such, heavy storm is still resolving due to the above reason. and it is also that small little difference that sets very similar yet different cards apart.

WOW! I think i had just used a paradox. LOL...

Sometimes TCG exclusive cards are just simply too lovely, giving us things like xx-saber boggart knight, and now snyffus!

Effect: Once per turn, you can tribute 1 plant-type monster to select and destroy 1 face-up card your opponent controls. When a plant-type monster(s) on the field is destroyed while this card is in the graveyard, you can special summon this card from the graveyard. If you do, it is removed from play when it is removed from the field.

Wonderful things to do:
1. One for one, throw dandylion and special summon it from deck. field now: 2 tokens + snyffus
2. clear some irritating face-up cards on opponent field by tributing one token. Dont waste the token!field now: 1 token + snyffus
3. normal summon debris dragon, pull back dandylion. field now: dandylion + snyffus + debris dragon + 1 token.
4. synchro dandylion and snyffus for arms aid, and you get 2 more tokens in the process. field now: 3 tokens + debris dragon + arms aid.
5. synchro 1 token + debris dragon + arms aid = TRISHULA! field now: trishula + 2 tokens.
6. depending on situation, if your opponent destroys your token then you can special summon snyffus back, and tribute the token and clear some field. Come on, BOMB your opponent! you have plenty of tokens to tribute.

Plants are seriously getting a hell lot of supports nowadays. LOL~

i think the new dragunity monsters are getting a little too crazy.LOL...

Dragunity arms-Laevatein/Effect: You can special summon this card from your hand or graveyard by removing from play 1 face-up monster you control equipped with a "Dragunity" card. When this card is normal summoned or special summoned, you can select 1 dragon-type monster in your graveyard other than "Dragunity Arms Laevatein", and equip to this card treated as an equip spell card. When this card would be sent to the graveyard by an opponent's card effect, you can special summon 1 monster treated as an equip spell card that is equipped to this card.

Dragunity brandistock/Effect: While a card's effect treats this card as an equip card, the monster equipped with this card can attack twice during each Battle phase.

Dragunity tribus/Effect: When this card is normal summoned or special summoned, you can send 1 level 3 or lower dragon-type monster from your deck to the graveyard.

Dragunity arms-mistil/Effect: You can special summon this card from your hand by sending 1 face-up "dragunity" monster from your field to the grave. when this card is normal summoned or special summoned from the hand, you can select 1 dragon-type "dragunity" monster in your grave and equip it to this card treated as an equip card.

COMBO TIME!
1. Normal summon Dragunity tribus, tribus effect throw brandistock to grave, special summon dragunity arms-mistil from hand. Mistil effect, select brandistock and equip it to himself. BOOM! a lighter version of chaos soldier for you.
2. can even make mistil direct attack, just follow step 1 but dump Dragunity pilum instead.
3. want a searcher?no problem, just follow step 1 but dump Dragunity corsesca instead.
4. tired of playing Dragunity arms mistil? just remove it for Dragunity arms laevatein.
5. all else seems too bored?try step 1 but use one for one to special summon tribus and follow the rest.just dont forget to normal summon.

A slightly tedious combo that involves mistil, laevatein and acuris is, normal summon acuris, equip whatever you can, doesn't matter, send acuris to special summon mistil and destroy 1 card on field (i notice that acuris effect in shriek didnt mention the word "you can" in the destruction part of its effect, so i assume its mandatory and hence wouldnt miss timing).equip whatever you can again to mistil, and then finally special summon laevatein.

yes, it is tedious, but thins your deck relatively as well. from then onwards you can do the normal laevatein and LADD combo if you wish.

recently i saw a lot of discussions about the interaction between saber slash and starlight road in pojo forum, and hence would like to point that out and summarize the main points.

Effect: Activate only when an effect is activated that would destroy 2 or more cards you control. Negate the effect and destroy that card. Then, you can Special Summon 1 "Stardust Dragon" from your Extra Deck.

Effect: Destroy a number of face-up cards on the field equal to the number of face-up Attack Position "X-Saber" monsters you control.

Points to note:
1. Starlight road can never negate saber slash because you can never be certain that saber slash will be destroying 2 or more cards, since saber slash can destroy their x-saber monsters.
2. However, your starlight road can negate your saber slash ONLY if you controls 2 or more face up x-sabers than your opponent's face up cards, because it is certain that you will be destroying 2 of your own cards.
3. saber slash does not target.
4. the number of x-saber monsters is counted when saber slash resolves.
5. same thing goes to R-Righteous Justice.
6. you cannot torrential/ bottomless the stardust dragon when you chain your starlight road to heavy storm since heavy storm is still resolving and hence miss the timing.

Trishula Tourney

Deck used: Whirlwind BF
Number of participants: 46

Round 1
Opponent: Alex/ BF
Score:XX
Game 1: Drew only a pathetic 3 or 4 monsters after so many turns and struggled till the end.
Game 2: He got stardust and armored wing on field, i summon sirocco and gale, priority half his stardust, focus and ramp his stardust, and jumped dark arm. then synchro into colossal fighter and destroy his armored wing using dark arm effect. he left 2k plus. next turn he dark arm back.

Round 2
Opponent: Yao Jie/ E-hero
Score: XOO
Game 1: He use king of swamp, discard and take polymerization and debris dragon it back, synchro for black rose and clear my field. and everything just went down from there.
Game 2: Forget how i win.
Game 3: He got the shining out and on my turn, i summoned blizzard and synchro for brionac, bounce his backrow, discarding vayu and synchro for arms wing. and smashing ground his shining and won.

Round 3
Opponent: Xiao Mei/ Hero control
Score: XX
Game 1: After 20 over turns only 1 sirocco, 1 bora and 1 blizzard! Holy...
Game 2: Forget how i lose.LOL.

Conclusion, time to revamp this deck. Has some weakness in it. HOHOHO...

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Chain whirlwind looks rather promising.

Chain it to gyzarus, cyclone, lighting vortex etc. Clears the backrow perfectly for you.

Notice that it mentions card(s) on the field, meaning that it can be a monster, or magic/trap. In which case, makes this cards more versatile.

Pot of greederosity will be another highly sought after super rare in this set.

Treacherous Gofer makes a good pair with trap dustshoot, though situational.

Alright, i'm back from Malaysia Kuala Lumpur last night, had a good rest and am writing a post now.

2 days in KL, is a rather tight journey i would say, so maybe next time will be going there for a longer period i guess.

I had trouble finding Gamers Arena, i had been there once before but couldnt find it. And i didnt know that Sungei Wang had 6th storey.LOL! and i finally located it through the directory at the basement.

The shop is about 3/4 the size of Rick's shop i think, with 2 rows of tables placed in the center of the shop. Cards are on display at the various counters, with prices labelled. Selling mainly YuGiOh cards. The shop is pretty bright, guess probably due to the white lightings they use.

I didnt bring my deck with me, so when i went in i saw i few players dueling, and some others trading. One of them asked me for album, which i didnt bring as well. and browsed through his album. Didnt really see what i need, so i left after that.

All in all, i stayed there less than 10 minutes i think, and left Sungei Wang to check in to the hotel and headed for Chinatown.

Cant really comment in depth about the shop, since i'm there for only a while. Oh well...Hopes to join a tourney next time if i am there.

To all Malaysian bloggers and duelist, i really wish to meet up with you guys on my next trip. =)

This is my 100th post! Yeah!

And i shall celebrate it by going to Malaysia Kuala Lumpur during this weekend!

Take a look at the yugioh community over there, and the shop at sungei wang plaza. Hopefully can write a shop review when i'm back.

So yeah, very excited about it.

Will be blogging again when i'm back. =) Hurray 100th post!

REMEMBER THE NAME!

why do i say so? in the game of yugioh, what makes you worry the most is not what you can see, it is what you can't see.

Imagine a screnario, your opponent has 1 sirocco and one black whirlwind on the field, he takes a kalut for black whirlwind's effect. Now, he set 1 M/T face down, and had 2 cards in hand. While he have 2 black whirlwind and 1 sirocco in your hand. So how can you win despite not knowing the 3 mysterious cards your opponent has?

It is a dangerous situation, because that set card can be bottomless, icarus attack, or mirror force. or maybe even a fake MST. comparing to a situation whereby your opponent had only a sirocco and a black whirlwind on his field, which situation is easier to manage?

A good duelist will analyse all possible outcomes that comes to mind, but for an legendary duelist like Yugi will know what are the cards you have, even for face down cards.

Example you are playing against a machine deck, you wish to OTK him this turn, but your opponent had 4 cards in his hand. and you go "WOW...Sian." scare of utlising all the cards that you have and may not kill him, and next turn let him make a comeback. No worries...

Look at his field, you realize that he has 3 gadgets on the field. meaning what you need to scare of is that 1 card in your opponent's hand that you dont know. because he had searched out 3 gadgets and had shown you 3. you can then narrow down the possibility of the card that can save him in this situation and decide whether you want to finish him off.

Remember the cards that your opponent draw, or shown you, it helps you to eliminate needless worries.

Same thing goes to Sirocco plus whirlwind, your opponent had shown you as well. so make use of that and turn it to your advantage.

if your opponent had 1 face up shura on the field only, and he goes to allure and removed a kalut, what does that shows? with a very high possibility, he has another kalut and hence that kalut drawn through allure is redundant. and you know that will be a kalut in his hand.

"Handsize?" a question that is familiar to most duelist, you can be the one answering that question for yourself.

Tournament @ sunset way report
Deck used: Whirlwind BF
Number of participants: 24

Round 1
Opponent:???/ Machine
Score: OXO
Game 1: Summoned a Shura and set delta crow. he set 1 monster and 2 M/T, end phase i destroy all. on my turn i attacked his set ally genex birdman and special summon out vayu and attacked. and from then onwards i controlled the game with icarus and the normal beatdown, and lucky that his gearframe and machina fortress is not out.
Game 2: He started first, and i set 2 M/T and end, i think so. anyway on his turn he special summoned the machina fortress and ancient gear dragon, after he plays geartown and storms everything. whack me and limit break.
Game 3: I started first and forget how my field is like again.LOL. anyway, on his turn he special summoned machina fortress, dumping ancient gear dragon and 1 cyber phoenix on field. i was like holy crap, then my icarus how? i stormed him and he call of haunted his ancient gear dragon, so i summoned sirocco and attacked his cyber phoenix and set icarus. manage to destroyed his 2 gay monsters when they attack my sirocco with icarus and he dumps something again and special summons machina fortress. i forget how many times he special summons machina fortress, but its damn a lot of times! he keep equipping machina gearframe to his fortress and i keep CED him, LOL. sidedecks at work. and i was struggling to survive when i top draw a cyber dragon!!!sacrificed the blizzard and help him contact fusion his machina fortress and won!

Round 2
Opponent: ???/ Twilight
Score: OO
Game 1: near fatal error, he had only 4700 LP, and i had brionac and 4 cards in hand and a vayu in grave and some other BF monsters. my hand was 2 sirocco, 1 shura and 1 icarus and i dump all the monsters to bounce his monsters back to hand and then special summons arms wing, and realize he left 100LP. LOL. on his turn he cleared my whole field by special summoning chaos sorcerer, out my brionac and sacrifice for caius and out my set icarus and special summons JD. i from 8000 become 2600. and i hand no hand, no field, only grave. and i really need a top draw, i was praying for blizzard, brain control. and guess what? blizzard show up!
Game 2: Sided in d.d crow, crack from a different dimension. i removed his JD, lumina with crack from a different dimension and d.d crow when he tries to pot of avarice and stalled for a few turns since i had no monsters and finally drew a bora and had a whirlwind in hand!

Round 3:
Opponent: ???/ Perfect declarer + christia lockdown
Score: OO
Game 1: he had perfect declarer on field and relinquished, sucked my bora over and end phase i dust tornado it away. we exchanged a few plays and i tried to waste his hand by playing either magic/trap/monster effect. and won evetually.
Game 2: very close game, and i managed to turn the tides over when he tried to attack my shura with perfect declarer, since he had 1 honest in hand and 3 angels in grave and wants to special summon out christia, i had 1 book of moon and 1 icarus set, while he had 2 prohibition declaring whirlwind and sirocco! so i chained book of moon and he didnt negate it, end phase i icarus away his declarer and prohibition that prohibits whirlwind. that time i had 1 sirocco and 1 whirlwind in hand. i drew allure of darkness on my turn, and drew 1 bora, and 1 kalut, and removed away sirocco. bora + whirlwind= game.

Round 4:
Opponent: Yong Xiang/ gadgets
Score: OXO
He proposed that i win 2-1 so that both of us can go up, so we just casual play.

Top 8:
Opponent: Richard/ BF
Score: XX
Game 1: after struggling for countless turns, i only had 4 pathetic monsters, and 2 of them gets bottomlessed. =.=" . its a good hand, just that monster didnt appear.
Game 2: similar to game 1.LOL.

Top 8:
Opponent: Milton/ Gladiator beast
Score: OO
Game 1: he had equeste on field and 3 set cards, and i drew heavy storm as my 6th card, and was a little worry to use, as i am scare of starlight road, and turn out it is a solemn! so he was down to 4000LP. and i controlled the game and won.
Game 2: he tagged into gyzarus and destroyed my 2 M/T, 1 book of moon and 1 magic cylinder, so i chained book of moon to his gyzarus. he controlled for a while and a timely sided royal oppression saved me( yes, i didnt main it) when he tries to contact gyzarus and a bestiari. and eventually won.

Top 5/6 position:
Opponent: Samuel/ Gladiator beast
Score: --
We didnt play since we were both too tired and decides to discuss about the prize, so in the end i took a PP12 pack and he took BF-silverwind. only had great tornado in the pack, well, still i like it.

conclusion:
BF is really in a disadvantage when playing with machina fortress deck. if not for the chimeratech fortress dragon, i didnt know how i could have won. and crack from a different dimension proves to be a very strong card indeed. and i seriously don't like to play mirror match.
