Was totally owned by Judgement dragon in this grand event. And after much thinking and pondering of the situation that i was in, there is pretty nothing much i can do.
2nd turn heavy storm, and 3/4th turn judgement dragon came. LOL...
Anyway, i shall now comment on the tournament. with some questions already asked by Bryan.
1. How you think about this tournament?
Undoubtedly, this year's tournament was far way better than last year. The flow of the tournament was managed exceedingly well this time, especially so after the elimination rounds. the sight of players waiting for the arrival of their decks during the swiss rounds reminds me of sitting in the examination hall anticipating the issue of the exam papers. it can be clearly seen that there is a system in place and it is well followed.
though there was a slight delay during the deck checks, there was no other major disruptions. which in this case is understandable, as we had only 3/4 judges checking 64 decks. which is about 21 decks checked by each judges, taking only 3 judges into account.
a screen is put up on display, to broadcast live dueling at the " featured table" and to update pairings and standing. a move that had eliminated the waste of precious time to print the result slips out and then pasting onto the wall, announce to the players to check their pairings before they are proceed with their match.
however, i would like to point out that a microphone should be used when the judge wants to make an annoucements, instead of shouting at the top of his voice just to ensure everyone gets the information.
2. How you think about the venue?
The venue is a bit small, and players had to cluster at one area. entrance to the dueling area is also too small, maybe there can be 2 entries, one at the front and one at the back. so that players can enter the area swiftly. a better floor management plan should be enforced. hope to have a more spacious environment to play next year.
3. How the Judge manage the event?
The judges had done really well this time. however, one point to note is that, a list of commonly asked questions should be posted on the forum, to allow players to seek clarification and to have a grasp of how certain gameplays are ruled. this way, there will be no disputes over rulings and all rulings are transparent and less contraversy will arise.
A channel should also be dedicated specifically to answer ruling questions for players. because like we all know, rulings sometimes can mean life and death to players. i shall quote an example from one of my older entries here: player A has a set marshmallow and player B a bora. with each left 100LP. player B attacks player A, so who wins now? If you are interested to find out, here is the answer.
4. Is the time schedule too tight?
nope, not at all. Especially when the foodcourt and fastfood restaurent is in the vicinity, we dont have to rush for lunch and dinner. do note that more time should be set if the foodcourt is some distance away.
5. Is 45mins per round too long?
nope. i dont know the standard timing for each round swiss, but if there is one standard time across the board, then we should all follow.
6. How you felt about the new system?
i shall refer to the swiss/ ranking point system for this question. i do not know the exact maths behind this and how a single point will affect the individual player. but i feel that the number of wins shall overwrite the number of points. meaning to say, number of wins should be considered first, and should there be a tie-breaker, number of points should be taken into consideration. again, i do not know the standard rule for official tournament, and what the rules are like. hence it should be again, stipulated clearly before the tournament, so that all players are aware of it. i believe if there is a system in place, then it should be followed. just have to explain to us, why number of wins > number of points, or why number of points > number of wins.
Conclusion:
i am still more particular about the rulings, LOL. Hence if possible have a section on the forum for all national judges to answer all these questions posted by duelists, to prevent disputes of the game. and also to encourage fair and even play.
