Sometimes adding that 1 or 2 cards into your deck makes a big difference when it comes to real life dueling. And that card or cards you may have added might help you to get out of that predicament, or gain advantage for you by setting up the gameplay.
I believe, like most games, YuGiOh can be "predicted" using simple tools that we all possess. And that is maths! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand the basic mathematics behind YuGiOh. It is a subject that we have all learnt in Secondary school, probability.
Probability should be considered when you are having a tough time desiding what or what not to put. In this case probability is the best solution for you to consider to look at the figure before arriving at a conclusion.
Let us take an example and illustration of how this is done:
1. Player A plays a 40 cards Gladiator beast deck. He has 3 icarus attack, and 3 wing-beast gladiator beast monsters in his deck.
Probability of him having icarus attack and a gladiator beast on the field simultaneouly is:
3/40 x 3/40 = 0.005625 ( 0.5625%)
2. Player B plays a 40 cards Gladiator beast deck. He has 1 icarus attack, and 3 wing-beast gladiator beast monsters in his deck.
Probability of him having icarus attack and a gladiator beast on the field simultaneouly is:
1/40 x 3/40 = 0.001875 (0.1875%)
Difference between the 2 case is: 0.5625% - 0.1875% = 0.375%
The player can then decide whether to play 1 or 2 or 3 icarus given his situation by analysing the statistics generated.
You can even compare 2 different cards that deals with 2 different scenarios and then see, which card should you add or replace.
Maths is fun, and so is YuGiOh!

I nearly fail statistics !!! i hate maths
LOL...its only simple maths lah. so no worries. maybe i can come up with more complex examples later. haha...
